Fruit carving has a long tradition in many Asian countries, people use different fruits for carving but the watermelon remains the most popular because it give good shape and it has color variations of the cut fruit is highly attractive. Takashi Itoh is an amazing fruit carving artist and can carve just about anything from portraits (Van Gogh) to intricate flowers, various sports like skiing, animals both real and fantasy. Inspired through participation in Thai Food Festival in Tokyo, he develop passion on this art, his work on Michelangelo’s La Pietra is superb. He has more than hundred designs on his website.
